Water Fun! We Love Our Jet Skis!
Have you ever wondered how jet skis came to be? And did you know that they are really called “personal watercrafts”? It’s true. Jet Ski is a trademark of Kawasaki for their line of watercrafts. Jet Ski has become a generic term for all personal watercraft, just like Coke and Kleenex often refer to other items of their type. But, you’re forgiven if you refer to your watercraft as a jet ski!
Jet skis have been around for a very long time. Early water scooters were introduced in Europe in the mid 1950s. By 1973, Kawasaki introduced them as a way to waterski without the need of a boat. These early editions didn’t have seats and the rider had to stand up which proved to be challenging at times.
And the rest, as they say, is history. They exploded in popularity and new models were introduced with seating, allowing for two riders. Today, they are fast fun machines. And, believe it or not, they can reach up to 60 miles an hour.! So, if you don’t have a jet ski, consider renting one and taking it out for a spin. Chances are you’ll enjoy it so much you’ll want one of your own!

Hit the Trails
If running is your “thing”, you already know that a great pair of running shoes is a must. But if you’re new to running, you may not know which shoes to purchase. We found these 6 tips on RunnersWorld.com to help you find the perfect pair of running shoes. After all, if your feet aren’t happy, you won’t be happy either! Their tips are:
- It should fit snug, but not tight. When they are laced up (not tied), you should be able to slide your feet out.
- The shoe’s upper should feel snug and secure around your instep.
- Your foot should be able to move side-to-side without crossing over the edge of the insole.
- Your feet will swell and lengthen over a run, so make sure there’s a thumb’s width of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
- Check the flex point before you put on the shoe. Hold the heel and press the tip of the shoe into the floor. The shoe should bend and crease on the same lines that your foot does.
- Find a shoe that matches your foot’s contours and movements.
Check out runnersworld.com for more information about finding the right shoe for you and then hit the trails!
